We met in a frozen landscape and found common ground in admiring James Houston's book and the life and survival skills of the Inuit. Smoked and candied salmon and bannock were substitutes for seal meat and blubber. Ice cream reminded us that is never warm up there. The Living Stone, an NFB documentary, showed us an Inuit artist releasing an image he sees imprisoned in a rough stone and illustrated the life in the arctic we read about.
